COVID-19 Update (21 July)
21st July 2020
We’ve been continuing to monitor the situation and messaging from the Govt and NSW Health and, as a result, have assessed that it isn’t the right time to resume KYO rehearsals. We appear to be in a critical phase of community transmission in NSW and therefore will comply with the NSW government’s request to avoid non-essential social gatherings.
We’re so aware of the level of desire from musicians to return to rehearsals so will keep monitoring and will be in touch as soon as it’s safe to return. In the best case this might be after a two week incubation cycle, or it could be after an extended period. Obviously we will continue to credit fees for rehearsals before KYO resumes.
The Committee have done a lot of work to prepare for KYO under COVID-19, including testing the socially distanced layout at Town Hall, with string players at least 1.5m apart and all woodwind/brass players at least 2m apart. All this is likely to come into play when we return.
In the meantime, the plan is still to start with The Sorcerers Apprentice, Carmen and Dam Busters when we return so please keep up the practice! We’ll be in touch and please reach out if you have any questions.
